Want an update on our MONTH of sickness? Things were looking up as I was doing much better (and actually went yard-sale-ing with everyone and then biked a mile), Willa was better, Mommy was just tired, Daddy was getting better, and Seth and Elsia were doing great. That was Saturday. Sunday morning when I woke up and looked at the clock and saw that it was 9, I knew something had made a turn for the worse and we wouldn't be going to church (we have to leave at 8:40 to get to church). So disappointed. Mother had an ear infection that was REALLY painful. Sunday afternoon as Emma was playing outside, she got a severe rope burn that covers her entire hand and the sides of her fingers. Big blisters. Major sting.
Yesterday while Daddy was out on errands I had a major stomach ache. I went hunched over into Mommy's room and curled up on her bed. Mommy yelled down to Emma and asked her to watch the kids (Seth and Elsie). She happily agreed, but a few minutes later she broke down into tears. Mother asked her what was the matter and apparently she had a bad stomach ache, too! Promptly sent to bed, Emma recovered in a few minutes. With Daddy gone and Emma and I out of commission, poor Mommy with an ear infection had to take care of things until Daddy came home.
When he did come home, my stomach still hurt very badly. So.... Daddy, being the brave soul he is, took everyone but me and Mommy out do more errands. As Providence had it, my stomach ache went away 20 minutes after they left. Too bad there was laundry for me to do.
This morning I woke up and learned that Mother had gone to the doctor's for a perforated ear drum. Ouch. Emma's hand is better, although she still has to be careful, Willa was up every ten minutes last night going to the bathroom and is feeling very poorly today. Let us also mention that the toilet won't refill by itself and the light switch is stuck in the fan vent on position so Daddy pulled out the wiring to cut the correct wire to shut it off. He left it exposed all day yesterday and overnight. He may get around to fixing it maybe today. I am still not back to 100% energy.
We covet any prayers you pray in our behalf, but especially for Mommy. She's in a lot of pain-- I've never seen her take so much Tylenol. Thank you.
And on a funnier note, a few weeks ago when we were watching the previews before National Treasure 2, a preview for Disney Reward Points or something like that came on. The words plastered across the screen were "Really Cool Stuff!" Emma reflected, "Really cool stuff. The three worst words in the English language." It was soooo funny! You see we have been taught that there are certain words to avoid in striving to achieve articulate writing and speaking. "really", "cool," and "stuff" are three of those. We're such homeschoolers.
