Fencing. Again.

But as far as I know, this is the last one! Because we're basically DONE. :D Since we had so much fun and it took up so much of our lives, I thought I should post the remaining pictures. :)

Monday we worked a little bit tamping the remaining posts and started on H-Braces. Explaination of H-Braces for those who (like me) had no idea what it meant:
In the middle of long runs and on the corners, you set two posts 6 ft apart and drill holes through them 5 ft up from the ground. You cut another log that is the exact distance between them, drill holes in the ends of it, and then hammer rebar through the post and into the log at both ends, creating and "H" out of wood. Make sense? To drill, we put the generator in the back of our truck and hauled it up the hill to use.

Rebar isn't the easiest thing in the world to hammer into cedar posts. It was nice of Daniel to not make us girls hammer them all. This is what we cut rebar for last week.

Don't try this at home: Putting on Daniel's "ears" is likely to get you an evil look and the silent treatment.
(Which under normal circumstances wouldn't actually be a bad thing, now that I think about it...)

Caroline's not so sure about his hammering technique.

"I have fencing on my braaaaainnnn!"

Now we switch to yesterday, when Daniel, Nathaniel, and Kyle showed up in the driveway at 6:30 am.
Groggy eyed and excited, we headed up. Again, I'm thankful for bench seats so that we can fit 6 people in our truck!

Taking a break to lean against part of the truck. Wearing cool glasses.

Actually, he was waiting on these two to finish running the wire so he could tighten it. Kyle's about to cut the wire.

While Emma and Caroline hammer up the wire at the right height.

Caroline had a "degree of authority". :)

Even Jo joined us for part of the day. He loved it, as always. Especially since we gave him cookies.

Kyle on the other side of an H brace. See kinda what I mean now? Wire is also stretched diagonally across the brace for more support.

"Sweet Caroline, oh oh oh"... As the day wore on, we got loopier and more sugared up. We were communicating via songs by the end.

There's Mr. Loopy himself.

Bereft of her sweet shades, Emma can do nothing but laugh.

We have impressive hammering techniques. I had two hammers going at one point.

Going for the newest style- staple earrings! Those are what we were hammering into the posts to keep the wire up.

The oh so cool and classy chauffeur.
bahaha.
Outsiders warning: All chauffeurs in TN wear camo hats and are covered in mud. If either of these bother you, please stay away.

This is my favorite picture. Please make note of Kyle in the background and the fact that Daniel is still driving.

Caroline turned the camera around.

Setting the last two posts! It was DARK by the time we finished around 8:30. There are no streetlights out here! No problem though. Just get the headlights of two trucks, a mule, a tractor, and 3 girls holding flashlights and you might be able to see enough to put wire at the right height. Oh, and you definitely have to have one of these around:

Headlights and sunglasses are the latest and greatest trend in fencing attire.

Can you tell we had a blast? I guess the sayings, "Many hands make light work" and "Time flies when you're having fun" both applied.

I love our country life. Thank you so much Daniel, Kyle, Nathaniel, and Caroline!
