Reformation Weekend Part 3: Highland Games

Highland Games: A chance to show off your muscles and pretend you're a Scotsman for an hour.

Or at least that's the definition I can gather from what went on. ;)

This event was just as fun for those of us watching as for those who played. :)

 Alright, line up!
I just love how the little men interact. :)

 First event: pole tipping.

Some watched from the comfort of the golf cart. :)

Most of us just plopped down in the grass.

After the little men and young women, it was time for the men's pole tipping. The goal was to throw the pole in such a way that it would do a somersault on-end. Mr. Fish volunteered to go first.

And, although it looks like it from this picture, one does not hit it with one's head.

Didn't work so well for some. Actually, nobody was able to flip it and we were wondering how in the world it was supposed to work.

But then Sam did it. And made everyone want to try again.

 Yes! Pastor Lovett did it.

There were no less than 6 Nikons shooting away at this event.

Mr. Botkin stopped by with his Canon.

And would you believe they were all different models of Nikons?

Mrs. and Mr. Lovett enjoying the day

 Mr. Bradshaw flips it!

Now onto the rock throwing! Bradley went first.

 Coleton
 Jacob
 Pastor L.
 Chris
I don't remember who threw the 80?lb rock the farthest.

Last was log throwing.

 Best friends
Cami and her camera. We had shooting wars. :)

 Bear imitation?

Caleb steps up for his turn
Mr. Bradshaw did it again!

The little men took their turn at log hoisting

Micah

 Mr. Draper
Mr. Bradshaw spotted. Seth just couldn't get it quite high enough.

 The Jean Jacket Club

And so the games came to a close. With everyone saying they'll be practicing for next year.

Hey I like that first picture of .... Camille perhaps? Nice shooting angle, and interesting effect from the peeking sun.

Looks like Seth was the center of the little men interaction. :-)

Very cute photo of the three boys on the log!

Really weird but when I first looked at the photo immediately beneath the log picture, I thought that the lady at the back of the golf cart was Mom! She has a blue coat and her hair is cut in a similar fashion. Kind of strange for a second there.

That pole tipping thing is unlike anything I've ever seen!

Yay for Mr. Botkin!!!! Go Mr. Botkin! Not only is he carrying onward the Canon torch, but he is a guy! I mean, it seems like we have a plethora of female photographers down there and not many guys. :-)

Great photo of the pastor and his wife.

Those fellas got a workout!
