With having the chicken pox for awhile, one might assume I would get behind on school work. I kept up a little with Humanities, but nonetheless I spent 14+ hours a day catching up last week, and the reason there haven't been any recent blog posts.
I was up way past the next day most nights, but Thursday night surpassed them all...

Hopefully Elsie doesn't mind us posting a picture of her in her (gasp!) long johns. We thought it was hilarious how she fell asleep with her feet
outside the crib. :-)

Yes, Thursday night was interesting. I had the last 4 books of Augustine's confessions to read by the next day, which was about 200+ pages. With 2 minutes of deep theological discourse per page, it was a
looong time. I was too tired to concentrate much more at 5:30 am, and realized, much to my disgust, that I would have to go to bed. *sigh*

Haven't you always wondered what I look like when I haven't had a full 7 hours of sleep for a week? :-)

I came to the conclusion that Augustine was too sinful because he had WAY too many confessions. (NOTE: This is not at all correct theology, but rather expresses my annoyance at the length of the book. In fact, Augustine is a great example of thoroughly examining himself and he's very humble when he's confessing. The last three chapters are actually a confession of faith (not unlike the Westminster confession), not a confession of sins, and a discourse on Creation, which is a favorite subject of mine. :-) )

Since I never had a reminiscing birthday post, and to prove that I didn't look terrible all day, here is a picture Emma took of me on Thursday. In black and white it's my new favorite picture of myself.

Wow, Olivia!
First of all, Marshall LOVES to stick his legs through the crib like that, and every now and then he gets them through and then rolls over. Yeah.
Secondly, I myself am almost finished with Augustine's Confessions, so when I got to the first picture of you with the book (making a face) I CRACKED UP!
I really enjoyed his remeniscing on mind and the memory. :-)
Love,

Hi, Hannah!
Good, Elsie's not as crazy as we thought. :-)
Haha, the mind and memory stuff is what I had been reading that night. :-P It *was* interesting, and certainly not "bubble gum reading" as my dad calls it. :-)
What history program do you use?
<3~
Nope, not crazy, just cute.
I do Omnibus; the Veritas Press curriculum. I have just started Omnibus II, and I'm reading the books in order of availability, not in the order they list. :-) I'm liking the Christendom cycle much better than Ancient!!!
What about you?
Love,
Hannah
P.S. Yep, my dad calls it candy reading. Similar! :-)
Ooh! I do Gileskirk, which is lectures and stuff from Dr. George Grant. I read parts from Omnibus II as a supplement sometimes. Yes, I think I like Christendom much better than Antiquity.
It's fun that you, me, and Darby are all doing the same time period in history this year! hehe, I still have 2 books of AC left to read... *dies*.
ttyl!
<3
Oh! That sounds great.
I don't have the textbook for Omnibus II, so Dad has me write ten questions after each book, and answer at least three of them. That is pretty fun!
I know! That is funny.
Well, you'll get through it. I have about 20 pages left. We'll pray for each other. :-)
Hannah
