Early on the 4th day of our trip we climbed out of bed and took the Subway to the Arc De Triomphe.
It was massive. See the people in the lower right of this picture?

Absolutely amazing place! Here are two links to pictures of The Arch of Constantine beside the Colosseum (origianlly the Flavian Amphitheatre) in Rome.
Napolean emulted that edifice in the constructuion of his Arch of Triumph (which in the end he didn't have much triumph!) But he always wanted to outdo the Roman structure with his Parisian memorial and I think he did. I wasn't aware that is was quite that big. It's really amazing that you were right there Olivia! So much famous history transpired right around that monument.
I forgot to mention that Napolean never saw the finished construction of his beloved arch, but when it was finally built, the intial conception slighted changed from imitating Constantine's to imitating the Roman Arch of Titus. Either way, Napolean's outdoes them both.
