This Got Funny Three Weeks Ago...

Thank God for humor. And that our family loves to laugh. After the first two weeks of being sick (we're going on week 5, now), we started to laugh whenever somebody would express they weren't feeling well. "Not you, too!" So when Mommy burst her eardrum, I was admitted, and Daddy was called in to the hospital for chest and sinus X-rays (oh, did we not mention that?), we considered them just part of the process of sanctification. As a result, when Willa started breaking out in hives and not being able to breathe last night, we found it rather humorous that this could potentially be the second trip to the ER in our family in a week. Not to say we weren't worried, we just didn't want to add to our list of hospital visits.

Here is the story. To celebrate the Fourth, we traveled out to the Clarke's (even though they weren't there) to visit the Hopkins. Emma, Willa, Tirzah, Seth, Daddy, Mr. Hopkins, Gabriel, Duncan, little Olivia, and I think that's all went for a walk. On the way they found a delicious blackberry bush. After plucking many and gathering them up in Emma's skirt, they walked back. Everybody (except me but including Elsie) enjoyed a snack of blackberries and watermelon around the campfire. So, either Willa had an allergic reaction to the blackberries (a rather delayed, but rapid when it happened reaction) or the wood we were burning in the fire. After getting everybody (I think there were 15 of us there) inside and giving Willa antihistamine and loading her in the car, everyone prayed for her and then we started on the 30 minute trek home. About 10 minutes into the trip, we realized that we had left our camera by the pond, and so turned around and went back. Thankfully by the time we got to our town, Willa's breathing was easy, her hives had almost gone, and she was asleep.

One thing that we have been exceedingly grateful for this past month has been medicine. It really helped Willa last night, it was what they pumped into me at the hospital, it's what is keeping our family from hacking all over each other, and it is definatly something to thank the Lord for.

We are also very grateful for the cards everyone has sent. They lift our spirits! Thank you.

Yes, Rachel, everything else went very well! We enjoyed ourselves very much! We invited ourselves out thanks to your standing invitation! :-)

Emma jokes that last year was Peter's leg going through the front steps and this year is Willa getting hives. :-)

No, we didn't swim, but everyone was in their bathing suits when we got there. Ruby and I took Seth and Olivia out in the boat. Their conversations were so cute.
Olivia: "I want to go swimming in the water."
Seth: "What water?"
Olivia: "The water we're in, Seth. The water we're in."

:-) Thanks Clarke's for having such a cool, hospitable home!
