We stopped for lunch at the last stop in France and to mail some postcards I had finished writing in the car. This was our first experience with prepackaed fresh sandwiches-- they were SO good! We had half a dozen by the end of the trip- they were sold everywhere!

Europe Trip Pictures: #5: Driving To The Netherlands
Friday (the 29th of August) I woke up to the sound of the phone ringing. Grand Dude was waiting outside with the rental car and we were supposed to be down in the lobby waiting! Needless to say, that was the fastest I ever got ready and packed! After a rather humorous battle with the hotel elevator door (it took us 5 minutes to get ourselves and our luggage down two stories! no joke.), we were on our way to the Netherlands!

Okay, so we were driving through Holland, a lot behind schedule, and we hit a traffic jam. Our beautiful GPS, whom we named Gabby (for a good reason), had an option to show us the way around the jam. She took us through the countryside and we enjoyed it very much. She was giving us directions like, "Turn right in .8 miles," "drive for 3 miles then turn right," and such. We were surprised when she blurted out, "board ferry!"
And that's just what we did! :-D
