Monday morning we got up and moved from the
Almere resort to a hotel closer to Amsterdam (that had
internet access! My post while we stayed there is
here). We drove out to a windmill museum of sorts, stopping in a quaint town along the way. We then took the train into downtown Amsterdam for dinner. Sorry these pictures are a bit out of order.

On the train.

The train station in Amsterdam.
Eating dinner. I think we all had pizza. The waiter in this place wanted to know if we were "in or out" on Obama (this was way back in August, remember). He was a Brit, and apparently they love American politics. He was more than thrilled to discuss them. :-P

On the train again.

On the train with Grand Dude. Again.

The ingenious way to keep Aunt Jill's flowers fresh without a vase.... nobody ever said trash cans couldn't be used!

Lots and lots and lots of driving!

I *loved* the little town we walked around-- so
incredibly quaint! I would love to live in a place like that...

Beautiful
Aunty Jilly.

I told you Dutch was hard to understand!

We laughed over this sign-- what was it supposed to mean?!

I took some "artsy" photos at this place.

Pinocchio!

I told you it was quaint!

Kids on their way home from school. If I had to be transported to school, by bike along cute paths would be my
preference.

These things were everywhere.

Okay, so there were cows *everywhere*, but NONE of them had fences separating them from anything! Had I wanted to I could have gone over and petted the thing. And there were no signs of the cows wandering around...

Across the bay there were equally cute homes.

Guess what!?!?!!?!? The houses were
color coordinated.

Okay, so we went to a wooden shoe museum and gift shop and I fell in love with these shoes-- they were
soooooo adorable and comfortable. I *almost* bought them, but I'm glad I didn't... they were $90.... *blushes.* I was able to buy a bunch of scarves instead (pictures of those from
Momarte later)

Wooden wedding shoes!

Wooden boots!
Now we get to the drive to the windmill place.

We stopped for lunch at yet ANOTHER
uber cute town. It was designed so well, and had only one street you could actually drive on-- all the others you had to bike! *LOVED* it! I had a chicken
panini. The place we ordered it at had fries with
mayonnaise for sale... I didn't think that sounded so great... :-}

As we were driving down "main street" in this little town I saw this dress in a store window-- I loved it and knew I had to get a picture of it. I walked a whole 5 blocks by myself to get it! :-D

These were windmills we had to pass to get into
Almere during the weekend. They changed color depending on your point of view. It was strange!

Grand Dude and me!

A big wooden shoe in front of the wooden shoe museum!

Grand Dude and Grand Jean!

Our group!

Like my new shoes? It was a bit windy!
How did you enjoy this installment of Europe Trip Pictures? (Hopefully) more to come soon!

Oh my! This is my favoriite Europe post to date. And, as you more than fully know, I've loved them all.
Such beautiful topography in that country. I've always wondered why people would want to live in such a flood-prone area but with that type of scenery, who woudn't want to reside there for a spell? Those shoes look great on you, bring them to skating!
That sign is telling all the parents to hold tightly on to their little tykes hands so they dont go... plop ....into the water. :o Not good. Isn't that right?
Those windmills are awesome! Did you see the North Sea Waterworks while in Dutch country? It is one of the greatest feats of enginnering in world history. Magnificent edifice.
So, you bought that dress then? That really was a beautiful dress; a great, unforgettable souveneir.
Love the windmills as well. Actually, I love every European picture you have on here. (big surprise!)
We thought the sign said that fathers and daughters had to hold hands across the bridge! (lol...)
Nope, didn't see the waterworks, but Grand Dude's a pipacologist, so he pointed out all the other water and pipe things... :-D
Noooo... I didn't buy the dress! The store wasn't even open... :-( I just window shopped. :-D
I loved Holland! It's, as you can imagine, more beautiful in person!
A pipacologist?? Just looked it up and found nothing... Must be some P.H.D. I don't know of.
You had a much nicer and more humane interpretation of the sign than my PLOP into the water!
One of my aunts grew up there (Holland) and frequently takes trips to that region to visit family. So I've seen lots of pictures that I love. They all reinforce that someday I'll see that sign for myself...I hope!
Didn't buy the dress. I thought not, but the way you worded it, "I walked five blocks to get it' exuded some enthusiasm of a big purchase.
Alright, this commentologist is retiring until the golden mirrors and bricks of you know where come up.
I know what you're thinking...(Oh really Ryan? Get real)
Pipacologist-- a term GD made up. He's one of like, 3 guys in the country with some special training, so you probably haven't heard of it. I don't even know what it is, but it has to do with crawling through broken pipes. :-P
We'll see if you can restrain yourself-- you did for a few posts there. ;-)
