Canning

Last Tuesday several families of ladies decended upon our house with canning supplies and peaches. With many thanks to Bob and Associates, the supplies were unloaded by 9:45 and by 4 in the afternoon we had canned 93 (? someone correct me. or was it 72?) quarts of Georgia peaches.

Jars run through the dishwasher.
Recipes consulted.

Peaches boiled.

Peeling/pitting continues. and continues. and continues.

Propane burners on the deck made it all go much faster. As it was it was a slow process. :D

The results of the labor start showing themselves.

With the many, many left over peach peels we made peach popsicles...

(that whole black pot was full of the peels!)

... and peach fruit leather.

We also froze some. :) For us Howard ladies, this was a great learning experience and a lot of fun-  especially the part where we danced to Elvis as we cleaned up. ;)

Oh I love this! How neat! and fun. That picture from the balcony overlooking the golden table is classic. THEY LOOK SO GOOD! I LOVE peaches... and quite honestly every other fruit I have tried - and that would be a whole lot of them. :-) The peach leather is too good to be true. We must do that now as well. :-)

? Oh Olivia, HOW do you know how Elvis dances? ;-)
