Tuesday Daddy wrote some lyrics to the John Anderson song, "Swingin" in an effort to make our friend feel better who had been sick for over a week then. Wednesday a group of us filmed in our pastures (with our digital camera no less :P). Thursday I edited the videos and we finally got it on DVD. Late last night the final version made its way around the neighborhood. :) This morning we shared it with the Lingo's....
Can you tell we had fun? ;)

Absolutely sensational composition! This was exceptionally done. I am intensely curious: when you say "our digital camera" do you mean this was filmed with your Lumix? If so, it produced good video at the given resolution. I must say that at appproximately 1:30 the lighting is beautiful - sunlight just peeking in from the top of the frame giving a partial silhouette of the well-positioned vocalist . Additionally, the scenes of the vocalist on top of the truck - i.e. at 2:12-14 - contrasted against the gloaming sky are also very creative. This truly had numerous elements of high-quality videography. Very good job both in shooting, and to you, Olivia, in editing. A most enjoyable video. So good I was looking for Brooks and Dunn to pop out any moment! ;-)
Thank you! Yes, I shot this with our Lumix camera- and youtube shrunk the resolution a bit!
Would you believe the shot at 1:30 isn't actually sunlight? We parked Caleb's truck on the hill behind the pond. It had gotten too dark on us!
We had so much fun shooting it!
Yeah, I see those headlights now that you mention them. ;-)
Roughly how long did it take you to compose this video? I know that video editing can eat up a lot of time very easily!
The portions where you sped up the video make good contributions to the overall "trained cinematographer" feel of the video. ;-) Also the parts of the group cheering from the bed of the truck are fun. I seem to recall scenes like that from some country music videos. May I also ask which programs you used to put it all together? Mainly V&I use our Roxio Creator Premier Suite for all that kind of stuff. Would sure have been nice to have that when we did the book study movie! :-) Ah well, we got it done without Roxio.
Well, lets see. We got the idea Tuesday night and recorded the audio. Wednesday night we shot it, and I spent a few hours working on the editing. Thursday I was finished editing much sooner than I expected... I'd say maybe 8 hours of editing all together? It was so fun to have a less than 24-hour turn around time! (ha, and it was a good thing! People started stopping by wanting to see it very early in the day!)
Directing was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I watched one Brad Paisley video halfway to remind myself what kind of shots they have in music videos. My dad is responsible for the awesome truck-against-the-sky scene.
I used Magix Movie Edit Pro, version 14. Its a nice program, although it definitely has its kinks.
